I agree - dull is dull.

I would rather spend my money on a new blade than try to sharpen a dull one. The material is worth more to me than using a dull blade on expensive material.

Have a sharpener-- Fiskars-- for rotary blades. Works only if it is alittle dull. I f there are burrs on it, it will help that too. But when the blade is nicked and ready to retire, the sharpener won't help.
I use the Harbor Freight blades. DH drives by that place 5 days a week, so it won't even cost extra gas $$.

I also fell there is a difference in the brand of blade. Some cut longer than others and I have the electric sharpener. Save you money and buy blades instead.

Same here for me. Been using them for 2 yrs now and have never had a lemon yet. Can't beat the price.

I bought the blades from Harbor Freight (online). They are so much cheaper - they are made for carpet cutting but fit the OLFA cutter and last a lot longer than the others. I heard about them first on this web-site. I think they will save you a lot of money.

I bought a sharpener at JoAnn's last year and it works great! They sell originally for $17.99 but if you use their half off coupon that puts it down to around $9. I sharpen my blades all the time and have had no problems. The sharpeners are blue in color. I don't understand quilter's who say they don't have any luck with sharpener's as they work great for me!
