it depends on what surface your iron has. Mine is an ancient one with a metal plate that I just use a abrasive merl scrubber on. You would not want to do that with a modern iron with a pedal surface. I think I would go with the Magic Eraser if it was a newer iron.

I had a co-worker working on a t-shirt quilt and the same thing happened while she was using my iron. I save old dryer sheets for multiple uses and this was one of the uses, I ironed firmly about 12 dryer sheets and then used a Mr Clean Magic eraser.
