I have a Tiara III and I want to buy the line tamer quilting ruler. Do you have to use a ruler base to use this quilting ruler? This ruler is offered in two different sizes, the 10 1/2 inch and a 7 1/2 inch ruler. I'm thinking that the 7 1/2 inch would be easier to use. I have not used any quilting rulers yet. Thank you for your advice in advance.

I have a platinum 16 sit down machine and I just bought a table overlay for it. Have started ruler work and this overlay will eliminate the space between the table and the machine.
