I have an HP photosmart D110 series printer all in one. It's worked great for scanning all along, but after getting my computer back from the repairman, it won't scan something directly from the printer, it says to do it from the computer (which I did) or check the documentation. I've read through all the papers & nothing tells me what might be wrong. Does anyone know if there is just some little setting I could change for this to work properly again? I've looked through the HP site...and a few of the forums that came up on search but didn't find a fix. Thanks!

I have a different HP model and for some reason, I can print from the computer and fax from the printer. But when I want to scan and copy all I get is a page full of gray ink. Printer has hardly been used. Frustrating.

On all my later printers, there is a CD that loads onto the computer. It won't work until they are "introduced" and it makes
the computer boss of the printer.

Okay, that's about the extent of my ability to control my printer.

If you have the install disc. I would uninstall it and then re-install it. Sometimes that helps.

I have HP PhotoSmart All-in-one. I have had good luck with HP support when I had a problem.

My computer is set up for automatic HP updates & I know there has been several updates for the printer.

I have the disk.... BUT....although the box said compatible with XP.... it's not so much... he diddled & daddled & it worked great! BLEAH....... okay for the moment.... I will just continue with the computer route, but I'm sure there's a quick fix..... because there was certainly a quick glitch.....

Why don't you call the repairman and explain the problem. He may be able to suggest something to you over the phone.

He probably didn't reload the printer software. Windows will load drivers for it but to get the full extent of what your printer can do, it needs it's own software. At least that's what works for me.

My HP all-in-one is so smart I have never been able to scan direcly to a computer, but it will scan to a USB (finger) drive. So I just scan to one & put it in my computer that way. Just a thought.
