By all means go for it. It should look just great using Tan. I love this pattern btw. Just tell yourself you have got quite the cheering squad behind you & you can certainly do this! Have fun and jump right on in there. It will be just fine. You can do this.

I love scrappy! I've done 6 Bonnie Hunter quilts and can't wait to start more. Really uses up all those scraps! Keeps us posted!

I love scrap quilts and think that the prettiest ones have a neutral color as a sort of background. I think your tan cotton will be perfect.

It will look lovely, I'm sure! Scrappy quilts are wonderful. Your plan sounds perfect.

One thing I do if I'm a little unsure, is to make several pieces, and then lay them out and see if the actual meets my minds expectations :) Sometimes I can see that I need to add/subtract more of particular color/pattern, or lay them side-by-side differently (mix them up more), etc. Laying out some pieces really seems to help me visualize what's in my mind. I know some people are really talented at 'grabbing from the bag and just sewing', but that hasn't worked so well for me (I don't think I'm as creative as they are!). I hope this helps you some, although I'm sure you already thought of it :)

Okay after laying out the first part of the quilt I decided to SCRAP that pattern and make Pinwheels! :)

I had enough of each scrap fabric to make a pinwheel panel so it will end up being a scrappy pinwheel. And I think it will look much nicer.

I'm afraid the scraps I used with the tan colored fabric didn't carry much of an impact, but when they are pinwheels it make more of a statement. So now I'm just assembly sewing my triangles together.

So we'll see how far I get this weekend, depending on the weather. If it's 70 and sunny outside I will be out enjoying the spring weather. Otherwise I will be downstairs working on the machine and watching Designing Women dvds. :P
