I also have the 4" Ginghers with the leather sheath and the Soft Touch Fiskars. Love them both. I use surgical snips for cutting threads and ripping seams.

Ginghers, Elan, Bohin, and anything Solingen. Mundial and Fiskars are okay if that's all you can get. They're sharp but dull faster than the higher quality scissors.

I have a lot of scissors, all brands. The more scissors I have the longer each one stays newer and sharp. I just bought a new pair that are very good. Karen Kay Buckley 7-1/2-Inch Perfect Scissors. I have a pair of Dovo
Solingen that I want to be buried with! I put a pair of Gingher scissors in the desk drawer and in the kitchen. No one bothers to find the good scissors in my sewing room any more. LOL.

Gingher lightweight scissors. Black plastic that cut better than regular Ginghers for me. In the $20 range at JoAnn's so they are $12 with a coupon.

Kai scissors are wonderful, and less expensive than some of the other brands. I bought a bunch of different types online, soon after I started quilting, on the recommendation of several friends who loved theirs. Recently I have seen them at several quilt shows.

Ginghers!!! I still use the pair I was given 25 years ago and they are the best. The 8" ones are what I have. You can find some great deals on ebay.

And I'm the cheapskate of the bunch. Walmart sells scissors in packages of 2. One for the kitchen and one for the sewing room. I do, however, spend money on rotary blades. I guess we all have our priorities.
