I was just on her site last nite and printed off the pattern for this quilt http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/strip-twist.html

I am not a big fan of scrap quilts because sometimes they look too chaotic for me but this one caught my eye and I believe that some day I will get this done!! And I will probably purchase fabric just for this so I can have some sort of order to it! (does that make it NOT a scrappy quilt anymore?) lol
I love her "Vhunky Churn Dash" block, too, don't you? Another one on my (ever-expanding) bucket list...

It's a great lap size plus it's easy to machine quilt.......just follow the seams with your walking foot edge. I love Bonnie Hunter also and Pat Speth's books (Nickel Quilts)
Nickel Quilts are GREAT!

I think the thing that makes scrap quilts too chaotic sometimes is if there isn't a light background, or at least a solid color for your eye to rest on.. if it's all just a jumble of color I find them less pleasing than if there is sashing or a background to give it some peacefulness in the midst of the scramble.
I agree with everything you said. I, too, LOVE Bonnie's site & want to make almost every quilt there (her "Streak of Sunshine" is THE best, fastest baby qult EVER -- I've made it half a dozen times).

I also agree that a scrap quilt needs someplace quiet. I like to use a common background or accent fabric in each blocks -- something to give it a little continuity.

Yep... 9-patches are the best! I like 4-patches, too!

I love this pattern (but am too chicken to try it!) so can't wait to see yours!

Oh my! You certainly get the "Patience Award" in my book. I love your quilt.

At first glance, it was "Never in a million..." but then I realized it's just four patch and hs.

Please, post your finished quilt. You have so inspired me.

Oh, I am raising both hands for scrappy quilts. Love 'em. We call 'em comfort quilts.

best,
d
