Have any of you ever made a scrap rag quilt?

I'm in the process of making one.

I was sewing scrap pieces to make a scrap quilt and wondered if it could be cut down into sized rag squares so I took out my Go machine and the 8.5 inch rag die and started cutting these sewed scraps.

I was very surprised and impress at how well it looks cut into a rag block. It has caused some of the edges to have tip peaces cut where a piece was sewed.

Anyway today I cut batiks and some solids for the back of these scrappy rag squares.

Tomorrow I plan to start sewing it all together.

Here are a couple of the cut scrappy into rag squares.

Once I have it sewed and finished I will post it in the pictures section. I feel it will look great with all the various scraps and colors in it.

I see you cut all the little strips before you sewed it. Is it easier that way?

I used the AccuQuilt Go Die which cuts it all. I don't think I'd ever make a rag quilt if I had to cut it after it was sewed with scissors.

Oh wow I didn't know that. That is pretty cool. I really didn't mind cutting all the little srtips. It was quite fun and I did it while talking to my daughters and also when we watched a movie. I try to keep my hands busy all the time. I don't have a AccuQuilt Go Die. Maybe one day.

I'm with you! I didn't know there was this option. Hmm...but I do agree that I don't mind cutting after it's sewn either-as long as you've got very sharp scissors. I feel such a rush of achievement when I finally finish cutting.

    Thanks for sharing!
