.......has anyone done this quilt or working on it now? I decided to make this for my DIL's 40th birthday in Sept. Acutally started it last Sept, figured I could get it done in a year!!! Well, I just sewed my first row of squares together and I didn't realize how hard it would be to match the seam! I'm just wondering if anyone has done this quilt and how they felt about it. I will finish it, but I'm a little concerned about not getting everything to match up. I am going to have it machine quilted, so maybe the ones that are off won't be noticable. I guess a challange is good for ones soul though :-)

Pin and baste stitch your intersections, using an 1/8" seam. If you are happy with them, then go back and stitch them as usual. :D:D:D

I have been thinking of doing that quilt. May wait and see how you come out with it. I know it will take me a long time but then every thing does and right now we are redoing a bathroom (ourselves) and we are not do it yourself people. Can't think why we started this quilting is much more fun!!!

I had to look up the quilt, and found the link. Yes, I can see where the intersections of the middle strips would be tricky to match when you sew the blocks together. But it is a beautiful quilt. Good Luck!

I'd love to make that quilt. To make the matching easier, you might want to try glue basting. It takes just a tiny dot of Elmer's Washable School Glue in the seam, and then you iron it. I find this easier than pinning and I don't have slippag problems with it.
