Recyler, here how it works: I send out a daily prompt, in this case to me and my friend MJ. Based on that prompt we create a single quilt block.
It is entirely up to the quilter how they want to interpret the prompt. The one thing for us to keep in mind as we do this is that we are doing a prompt a day, so you can't spend much time on the block. The concept has to be fairly simple and easy to piece.
Some prompts are much easier to interpret than others, and some may find a prompt easy where another found it difficult.
In my case I try not to be literal in my interpretation, but use it as a springboard for creating something abstract...kind of informed abstraction!

Thanks for the short course on prompts, WesternWilson! I was gone the day they passed out imaginations, so I don’t have great hopes for me, but will love to see more examples from you and others! I did go to your Instagram page and love all you have on there!

Jan I will try to do that. But maybe we could all participate? How be we all take a shot at creating a block, based on the prompt below? It will be fun to see what everyone comes up with:
PROMPT
"A quiet corner of the garden"
-make a single quilt block inspired by that prompt. Any size, any technique. Try not to spend too much time on it, this should come together in under 2 hours.

Latest prompts sent out...using song lyrics as inspiration!
Monday
Do ya get that restless yearning when you think about your dad
And the scrimshaw that he had
Of an old schooner rovin' 'neath a sky that's ironclad
(Restless - Gordon Lightfoot)
Tuesday
When the sun's going down on the prairie
And the gold in her hair is aflame
I say do you really love me Mary
And I hold her and I whisper her name
(Prairie Wedding - Mark Knopfler)
Wednesday
Comin' home after school
Flyin' my bike past the gates of the factories
My mom doin' the laundry
Hangin' out shirts in the dirty breeze
(My Little Town - Simon and Garfunkel)
Thursday
Pachinko jingle and space torpedo beams
Comic book violence and escaping steam
(Tokyo - Bruce Cockburn)
Friday
You're taken by the woods even though you're aware
of the slippery cliffs and the big black bears
and the salal snares taller than yourself
Ferns growing as thick as the trees
(BC Orienteering - Said the Whale, Tyler Grayson Bancroft)
