    I think you're supposed to alternate the direction you sew the strips; that is first strip sewed from top to bottom, second strip from bottom up and continue like that.u

    All of this is god information and I would only add that when I cut long strips, I like to cut lengthwise of my fabric. It seems to keep that waviness from happening.

    I alternate the direction that I sew and that helps a lot. To help me remember which direction to sew I always put a pin the the end I've just finished that way I know where to start the next one. This allows me to have some interruptions in my work and still remember. All I have to do it seems is to set something down and then wonder what is what when I pick it up again.
