OMG you need to search YOU TUBE, There is a woman on there who built up her table top to fit around her machine and then takes it apart and stores it when not needed. It is made with insulation and table top plastic covering. Showed it to my husband and he is going to make me one. I think it will work wonderful. I have an extension table for my machine and it is to bulky and mostly in the way.

My BF made a bed for my daughter. A couple years later she didn't want it anymore, now I'm using it. He converted it to a table for the sewing machine. Put a temp plastic b/c he didn't sand it and it was pulling the fabric. It works for me!

Ok, I have an idea. I'm trying it this weekend and I'll let you all know how it works and post a picture if I can figure out how. I am going to Lowes and get two laminated shelves, hopefully 10 x 24 if they make that size. I'll hook them together on the bottom with big staples ( are they called brads? ). I'm thinking I'll only have to cut a section out of one shelf depending on where they end up. Then, just put some sort of feet on it and voila it will be done and finished. No raw edges, nice and smooth for the fabric to slide over. Hope it works out. Should be cheap enough. I can't take total credit for this idea. I saw something similar on one of my searches.

hi i made one out of foam easy and dose work great i,ll love it,easy to make go to you tube .com click how to make a cheap sewing or quilting table theres two parts to this video ,try it i,ll love this idea i make my and it really works and helps enjoy ladies

Did you find a Sewing Machine extension table? If not, I purchased mine from http://www.sewingmates.com/. I LOVE IT! It is sturdy, well made, matches up perfect with my Viking and there's not a sharp edge or anything that could snag or bunch my fabric. The owners are Great people to work with too!
