Jacquie..yours looks like mine did before I started to fold like Alaskasunshine..I rolled mine on a 6 1/2 ruler..pulled it off..and it is stacking fine..with all the fabric I had I would have had a vast amount invested in the boards..I can now see my floor and some of my shelves.. of course I am not done yet..still have fabric in the attic and under the quilting frame..

I am going to use the ruler method myself as I added up what it would cost me in boards, and I could rent a storage unit for a year for that amount...and build more shelves!

Pam, I have been studying your scrap bin photo (page 1) for some time now and trying to decide if that would work for me and where I would put the bins. What I do after a project is finished (and I only have scraps), is just put leftover singles together by stitching a long basting seam through everything and throw it in a basket. Before that, I stitched all the coordinating fabrics together thinking granddaughter could come and just grab a bunch with which to play on the machine. But then she got older and wanted to choose her own fabrics so that did not work.

Now the basket is overloaded and a few more baskets have been started. Oh they are pretty wicker baskets set around the room but it has gotten beyond atmosphere so something should be done other than bagging everything up and throwing upon my Guild's free table. Did that once, and the bag was gone before it left my hand.....perhaps I have gold and just do not recognize it. lol

You absolutely DO have a gold mine! My scraps used to be sorted by color and put in plastic boxes in whatever shape they happened to be in. I NEVER used any of them. They just accumulated! Once they were cut into strips and squares, I use them often. My favorite quilts seem to be scrappy but within a certain color way. For example, I made a burgundy and tan square in a square, and the burgundies varied from dark to light, reddish to purplish. The tans went from light to dark. The quilt was beautiful! I did the same thing with scrappy quilts done in blues, purples, greens, teals, etc. and I've used my strips and/or squares for every one of them.

wichypoo - I love the little one's hat in your avatar. AND, she is the spitting image of my GD with that curly blond hair. They could pass for sisters.
