I would just use the cream and black as borders . Cream first and black on the edge and black binding. These two borders would not detract with any pattern from the main pattern, look like a picture frame.

I agree with DottyMo. Keep it as it is & go with the simple borders. I'm thinking that adding anything else would just take away from the lovely quilt you already made. And what's wrong with a lap quilt anyway!

I also agree with leaving it as is, just adding borders. I love lap quilts as people usually use them in places where they are more apt to see them more often on a bed. That is a very pretty quilt that someone will love to have!

Thank you to all for great suggestions. The pattern, and my original plan, had been to make a twin. When I realized there wouldn't be enough fabric, I decided to keep it as a lap size. My quilt group thought it would be too small. I know raffles rarely raise even the price of the fabric, but I'm donating it anyway, so any funds it brings in will be fine and bring attention to our group.
I always buy extra fabric, but decided to trust the pattern so as not to have lots is leftovers. I should have gone ahead and bought extra as usual. What are a few more scraps, right?

I make a lot of charity quilts and most of the request are for lap quilts, not a twin size. I would just finished the quilt off and be delighted with the pretty quilt you made. You can always plan on a twin size quilt next year.

I'm with bakermom, it's your donation and looks wonderful as it is. Go with what you have. And if someone dares to say, I thought you were making a twin size, just smile and say, "It didn't work out."

One other idea. The blocks seem to be made of solids. It looks like you need another row of the blocks. I would find four more quarter yards and make the four more blocks. Because they are solid, it won't be so hard to find something that will match.
