Missouri Quilt Co has a tute for tube quilting that makes really cute table runners. Perhaps you could adapt a block or blocks for placemats.

All these placemats are really neat and yet so many different ways to make them. Heaven knows I have enough scraps that I could try making placemats.

I have two wall hangings that go along with the placemats.
Beautiful work mjsylvster Love the color combo

My daughter in law doesn't like traditional quilting designs so I made these for her to match her kitchen curtains.

I really like the wine glasses placemats. Makes me want to have a glass of Reisling with you. If I ever get to SL we will have to have a glass or two.

Wow! I terribly impressed with the Bison! Gives me some great ideas for small panels.

I like them all but think I would make the plain ones for our table.
