Good suggestions. Also if you google free applique patterns will give you some ideas, too.

By the way, the wierd looking "blobs" in some of the blocks are the puppy feet and you make yoyos to stitch on for the toes. They are no aemobia! LOL

What "type" are you looking for: kids designs (boy or girl), floral, geometric, folk art etc. Let me know and I can suggest and/or send you some

I have done 3 or 4 of them and they are quick and easy. It takes longer to embellish them the way you (I) want them than it does to stitch/ applique' them!
This is a top I recently made and since this pic I have quilted it and added buttons for eyes, noses, embellised the collars and the flowers and etc.
That is adorable! Thank you for the link.

I like the 30's fabrics so florals would be good. Thanks!

I love to do applique. I think the heart is one of the easiest patterns. The way I like to applique is by using fusible or non-fusible webbling. It is very easy. 1. Trace your pattern on the webbing. 2. Roughly cut it out - leaving at least 1/2 inch around pattern. 3. Pin to right side of fabric and sew on the traced line. 4. Cut the pattern out with a small seam (about 1/4 inch, but doesn't have to be exact. 5. Cut a slit or two in the the fusible webbing. 6. turn it inside out - fabic to the front and webbing in the back. 7. Stitch applique piece to the background piece using either a blanket stitch or a hemming stitch or any decorative stitch you like
