I use the Simplicity Sidewinder Deluxe to wind size M bobbins for my HQ Sweet Sixteen. It gives me better results than the bobbin winder that came with the HQ. I haven't tried using it to wind bobbins for my DSMs.

There are two models of Sidewinders, basic or Deluxe. The basic does not wind Viking bobbins. I can't help you with the Deluxe model.

I have the basic, have used it for my Janome, Singer, Elna, and an old Montgomery Ward. Have had no problems, as long as I use the correct bobbin. (don't even ask) LOL

It won't wind green Viking bobbins. Says so right on the box.

I can't get mine to wind the bobbins for the Juki 2010. It does the Pfaff well. I like it when using the embroidery unit.

I find that strange, as I can wind almost any bobbin on my Pfaff 2170. I have a lot of cheap metal bobbins that I wind for the serger if I need a certain color. Since the bobbins go on the looper spool holders, it doesn't matter what they fit originally.

I don't think they are worth what they are priced at. I use it occasionally with Bernina bobbins. It is cheaply made.

It's worth triple the price to me. I don't have the delux model as the regular one works for all my bobbins. I opened the bottom of it and put in a heavy weight (found a chunk of metal in DH's shop). It doesn't tip over when running and it winds much smoother with the weight in it.

I use the Sidewinder with green Husqvarna/Viking bobbins. Place them upside down...... with the H on the bottom.

Hi Daffy,
I just got an HQ16 for a really good price. What size table/frame is yours on? Mine came with an adjustable table that is only 8' long. I'm waiting patiently for a part before I can set it up.
I'm so excited to have it.
Good to hear about the bobbin winder. The lady threw one of those in.
