I have read several posts on the forum about unfriendly Quilting guilds. Not so with Pinebelt Quilters Guild of which I belong. There are 165 menbers and we do so much charity work, it is such a great feeling just to go to the meeting and listen to the committees report, there's the walker totes for local rehabilation center, isolette covers for the neonatal unit at the local hospital, we make and give quilts to the children and women abuse shelters. We also have a large quilt show every other year, and October 2010 is the next one. Can't wait!! I wish everyone that quilts had such a guild. Oh yes, we make quilts and give them to every child under 12 that has a parent deployed to Iraq or Pakistan that leaves from Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, MS.

Just want to add what an inspiration all of you are to me.

We have a small group of about 45 in our Guild and we do the same type of charity work here in Murfreesboro, TN. They are all lovely and talented ladies and are always eager to share what they know with others.

In Lebanon, Oregon the size of the membership of the guild has shrunk in recent years, however the size of the hearts of the members has not shrunk judging by the number of charity quilts donated!

I have only been a member of this guild for less than one year, however it's been pleasant to find out all the charity work that is done!

Send some of your members to Washington to show these ladies what it means to be a real Quilter!!! Sorry I just feel left out not being able to join a guild but that does not define me as a quilter! Thank you for sharing your success story!!
