Looking for a "Lego" quilt pattern
I want to make a Lego quilt for a friend's 10 y.o. son who is currently in the hospital after having brain surgery to remove a tumor, thankfully not cancerous. He is very into Legos and I wondered if anyone has seen a pattern that would be appropriate. Thanks in advance for your help.

That could probably be done with squares. Get out your graph paper and pictures of his favorite lego and design away. Some ideas:

Apparently there was a pattern in one of McCall's Quick Quilts magazine issues:

If you scroll down on this web page, you can see how someone designed and made a lego quilt:

Here's another idea:

And this one:

Also found this older QB thread:

For a 10yo, I would be tempted to create "pockets" around the border of the quilt where lego pieces could be inserted. Velcro probably wouldn't be great in a quilt, so would have to figure out some other way of keeping the pieces secured in their pockets when not in use.

I just got a copy of Quilt magazine (Aug/Sept 2013) and on page 31 there is a picture of a 44" square lego quilt made by Pippa Armbrester. The mag says it is featured in her book "Solids, Stripes, Circles and Squares" but when I checked Amazon I could not find a picture of the lego quilt in that book or a listing for it in the table of contents. The picture in Quilt is cute -- basically large rectangles and squares in primary colors with contrasting appliqued circles in rows on each. You might be able to find a copy of this issue of Quilt on newstands. If you are comfortable with appliqueing circles, it looks like a fairly easy quilt to graph out and make up.
