Same here. But I've made a couple of bed size quilts, full and queen, and I have a couple in the works.

We like throws to be at least 48 inches wide and 72 inches long. That way they go over the toes and clear to the nose to keep us snuggley warm.

Almost all of mine are Queen size, once in awhile full size.

I usually make full bed size quilts. Sometimes a Queen size, my kids all want then bigger. It's whatever is comfortable for me to make.

I like twin size and call them 'throws', at least 72" long.

I make a number of the couch quilts.. throw size. But even then it varies... 50 x 60 to 55 x 70. I think that size works unless you have long legs I have made baby and toddler quilts, and even those I vary sizes. I tend to agree with those who say the patter dictates. I have however let the backing decide the size... if I am making a couch throw size quilt and I am leaning toward 70" but my backing is 60" .. I stop at 60". I see no need to piece the backing for 10" I think its whatever works best for your situation

Baby quilts and throw quilts I make about 45 x 60". Most other quilts I make are queen to king size. Even the one I made for my parents 60th anniversary for their double bed is queen size. I figure most people have at least a queen size bed today. And I like the quilts to hang down the sides of the bed.

I have made many differnet sizes. I guess it all depends on what you are going to use it for.

I do exactly this, particularly because I like to use fleece as a backing and it comes 60" wide by whatever length I purchase.

I make mine70 inches or bigger. I am slightly weird. I strongly prefer square quilts so almost all of mine are 70 x 70 or bigger
