These are the correct directions, I think my other link may have just shown a pic, not the actual directions. https://www.patchworksquare.com/mf/s...uilt-block.pdf
The fractions are really tiny in your linked instructions, but they say to cut squares 2 7/8", not 2 3/8". Using squares of this size should give you a seam allowance past the point.

This block is an 'image' as we see in EQ or similar programs, which doesn't show the seam allowances, even the outer one. However the cutting instructions do seem correct to me, but am going to try it myself. Thanks for this info. Great block.

Of course! I should have realized that, the block is the finished piece. Now I get that!! But if I follow their little diagram blocks showing what to make and how many of each, I'm not getting or seeing that 1/4" seam allowance. The problem seems to be in this diagram. When I stitch that together I'm getting the point right on the edge, there is no seam allowance to sew against the border. Am I just supposed to somehow know to put one there rather than following the picture?

There are directions for 16" square and 12" square. I'm making the 12" which calls for 2 3/8".

Wow, why would the directions says to cut a rectangle 2 x 5 when it should really be cut 2.5 x 2.5? I've never run into this before. Is the norm for directions?

It is much easier to oversize them and trim as needed to size. Here is the method that I have used. There is a chart included below the tutorial to make different sizes.

    Good luck!

I think I finally have everything figured out. Hopefully I'll have a picture of the finished block to post by the end of the day. Thank you all for your help.

I have made this block several times, and this is the way it turned out several times. I have wondered your same question. Thanks girls for all of your suggestions.

I don't know if this helps you or not... and I have never used this pattern but I found it on a BOM from a site I check once in awhile.... http://www.fvqg.org/bom-instructions/BOM-Sep19.pdf
