I bought muslim from Joanne's (my second bolt, first one was not 100 percent cotton) - I am very happy with it and it was 108 in wide. Used it for my king quilt, no piecing Yah....and its really soft. Just make sure its 100 percent cotton.

I purchase my backing from Missouri Star Quilt Co. can get the 108" or the 120". Prices are really good and fast delivery.

USE your extra blocks or fabrics on your backing to make it wide enough. I had two blocks left over and I did this to the back. Be as creative with your back as the front but keep the pieces on the large size. Don't want to add additional build with too many seams on the backing.

Most of the fabric at IKEA is 58-60" wide. Some would be suitable for quilt backings. Also their sheets that are 100% cotton would be suitable. Lots of interesting patterns.

I think using extra fabric from the front to make the backing looks great. A lot of people use the extra squares to make a strip in the backing and it looks really neat.

Thanks for the ideas! I think I may take 108-120 and rip it lengthwise. One the two I have currently I don't have any extra blocks to incorporate but that's a great idea to tuck away for the future.

I like buying my fabric backing from fabric.com. They have a nice assortment of 108" backing fabric. If many of your quilts are about 45-50 inches wide and maybe 65-70 inches long, you can back two quilts out of about 2 yards of this fabric. I hate piecing my backing together as well, so this seems to work well for me.
