This made me laugh. As a young wife and mother BEFORE perma press clothes, I always had dampened ironing waiting in the freezer. My husband wore dress shirts everyday and all the baby clothes and linens had to be ironed every week. I sprinkled clothes, ironed and what I didnt get done got put in the freezer until the next day or evening to avoid mildew. Thank heavens those days are gone.

I can remember my mother sprinkling the clothes before ironing, then rolling them up and putting them in the "ice box". It wasn't really an ice box but that's what we called our refrigerator when I was growing up (50's and 60's)... :D Her sprinkling bottle was an empty ketchup bottle with something fitted into the top for sprinkling. When I was around 9 yrs old she used to pay me to iron my father's handkerchieves ....I think it was a penny a piece.
