I've tried using mine for FMQ and couldn't get used to it. I wear bifocals and by the time I found it, it was too late. I do have trouble with the knee I use for my foot pedal so some day I will have to get used to it. Some day hasn't arrived yet.

It took me a bit but now I'm used to the start/stop button & really like it. Mind you, I can't manage it with free motion so I go back to the pedal. I love having the choice!

i remember that i used to use it on my mom's, but that was ever so many years ago. i love having immediate control with the pedal. i can't even find the right button to open the elevator doors when someone's running, so how can i find the button on my machine on time? lol

It's all I use. I love it. I feel like I have more control over the speed. It's a consistent speed. Now I can't use the pedal at all. Plus, I'm short, so it's more comfortable that trying to find the foot pedal and chasing it around.

I have a Babylock Ellegante 2 which is also an embroidery machine. I only use the start stop when embroidering. When I sew I like to have control of the speed and my hands are busy with the fabric. I can't think to reach up and push the stop button. Just let off the foot feed. LOL

I use mine for embroidery but am much more comfortable keeping both hands on my quilting and my foot on the pedal.

I have both...I use it for certain things i.e. Pictograms that I have programed for certain designs...I hit start and the design I programed is designed to stop at a certain pt.
Also when I do Faux FM using the puzzle stitch in my machine. I hit start just guide the fabric to the end and then hit stop...
