It does work on the Diamonds and the Ruby. You don't have to unplus the foot pedal either

I had no idea about using this feature for free motion quilting! I've had my Sapphire 875Q for 4 years and still have so much to learn about it. I will have to try this! Unfortunately, mine has been in the shop too many times. I'm hoping after this last go 'round that my machine and I can "become friends"! I loved my old Viking, but have not been enamored with this one.

Hi,

My Babylocks all have the start/stop button and I love it for FMQ. I have to tap the button though as you disconnect the foot pedal to use the start/stop feature.

I looked at my sewing machines to find the start/stop button and I can't find it, where is it on the machine?

On the babylock quilters choice, the bottom button to the right of the needle is the start and stop, but will only work if the foot pedal is not connected. I just found this out, too. I have not been able to try it out or felt comfortable with stopping sewing, my foot automatically does the work for me.

On my Brother it's just above the presser foot and below the scissor button. Only my very newest machine has this feature.

The start/stop is just about the only thing I LOVE about my Pfaff 1.5. I press the start button once I've set the speed I want, my foot doesn't have to be on the pedal at all, then when I want to stop I just press the foot pedal. I have been looking at Janomes and was surprised that you have to unplug the foot pedal to use the start/stop button - I don't want to take my hands off the quilt to hit the stop button.
