I saw an add for a stich regulater that you can attach to your home machine. The add said it worked like the stich regulater on a long arm. To be used for FMQ. Has any one used one? What is your opinion?

Bernina sells one for their machines but they're VERY expensive (~$1000). I took one for a test drive in the store, and it was slick. Made free-motion quilting much easier. Alas, I didn't have an extra $1G laying around ;-(

where did you get your info? I think there are machines with built in stitch reg. But I checked into having a SR fitted on my older LA and it's big bucks. Like I could almost afford a mid arm for what it would cost to have mine refitted. I'd do some more reasearch. Check warranty on your machine cause it would void mine. good luck

Yes there is a lot. I know they run average $500. I am getting a mega quilter from viking tomorrow with a separate stitch regulator but i don't know still how much it would be.
Here is used one on ebay (there are other new ones too):

Good luck

You can get stitch regulators for most computerized sewing machines (Juki, Viking, Pfaff, Janome, etc.). However, these are to be used on a quilting frame. To my knowledge, the Bernina stitch regulator is the only one available, which can be used without a frame.

If you are talking about a smaller throat machine, this is what I am thinking too. :D:D:D

Here is a link to one brand of stitch regulator. Grace Co. may also sell stitch regulators.

http://www.quilterscruisecontrol.com/

You can see from their web site they have stitch regulators for many machines. Contact them for your specific machine.
