How many Pincushions does it take...
#1
As I was quilting this last week, I wondered how many pincushions you use when quilting. In the last month or so I have been lucky enough to have been given two new pincushions...I have already given one away, so I have about 4 in use currently. They are strategically placed (and rotated as needed for pins):
1) by the sewing machine in use
2) on the ironing board
3) on the cutting table
4) on the side of the piecing site (currently on the bed in the guest room - on the bedside table)
This arrangement cuts down on the losing of pins and the needless trips to retrieve the pincushion and move it to the current working location.

I have the magnets for my cutting table, a fabulous one (pin cushion) with a thread or trash bag/pocket connected to it that I made, on my sewing table. and a couple of small pincushions around "just in case I need it" Pincushions and pins are two of my favorite notions :)

I have to confess that I use my ironing board as a pincushion when I am pressing and pinning there. Always have, always will. Otherwise, I usually have one by my machine, one at my cuttng table, and one wherever I'm doing my binding.
