I was thinking the same. Nothing like sitting in cold icy wind with sand grains pelting you.

i would take it....family is great but I've noticed even family is so overrun by electronics you might get bored! The only way I would leave it if it was an electronic free vacation. You might find the grand kids even at the beach sitting and playing on laptops and ds's and iPods. I limit my kids from those things when go on vacation and myself and the DH from laptops, so many people don't and they don't realize it's rude to have a conversation while playing a game on an iPod. Take it and even if you don't use it it's there plus if your anything like my mother shes an early riser so she brings books everywhere because she always gets up at 4am like clockwork and no one else gets up til 8 at least. She stops when we get up... Have a fabulous vacation!!

Take it, like someone said Lincoln City got snow this past week and farther south got 6+ inches. Plus. you never know if you run onto a quilt store and find the perfect pattern and fabric that you want to start sewing immediately. Not sure where on the Coast You are going but there is a huge Quilt Shop in Cannon Beach on the south end of town.

Have fun and enjoy your sewing time. Let us know how the vacation goes.

Maybe take a small project that you can work on if you get bored with family, shopping, fun with DGD and everything else you can do. Personally I wouldn't even worry about it. If I had it along I would feel like I needed to be sewing even if I didn't want to.

I never go anywhere without my sewing machine. Even if 4 days seem short, there might just be some time to get a bit of sewing done. My favourite time is early in the morning when the whole family is still sound asleep.

what's the worst that happens? You take it and don't use it? Oh well, at least it is no longer in the shop and you have it.

Do what makes you happy. You need to pick it up anyway and you can just bring it in the room in case you get an opportunity to use it. I would bring an extra bit of money in case you can pick up some great fabric to bring home. Get some good pictures too to use for a landscape quilt. I leave my machine at home when we go on vacation because I am chief cook and bottle washer and have little time to sew. If that sounds like I'm not really on vacation....I love it!
