I don't have the problem any longer with my new machine. But, I used to use spray furniture polish onto a piece of flannel and then wipe the FMQ surface and then wipe with a dry flannel. I thought it worked well. Give it a try as most of us that the Pledge spray sitting with our cleaning supplies.

I took a class for machine quilting and she said to buy a can of silicone spray and just coat your machine bed. It doesnt harm the machine. I guess you would spray onto a cloth and not directly on the machine though. I have a slider.

Just a thought... I have old x-ray film I use for making templates. I think I'll get one out, polish it up with pledge and see if it would work!
I'll let you know....

My exact thoughts - plastic/vinyl does not act the same way was teflon or silicon baking sheets. I would not want static electricity around my computerized machine at all.

I'll spluge where I need to and save where I can.
