Upon first glance, I thought of my favorite childhood game of Jacks. I can't come up with a name, only an impression. Nice block.

I have no idea what to name it but I would love to see how it's broken down and sewn. Busy Lizzie

I will be posting the tutorial after I get it done. I"ll post the link at the end of this thread when it is ready. Should be ready by the first of July.

in the mean time if you'd like you can check out my star point blocks and my 4 patch square shortcut blocks and my Kansas Dugout blocks. Once you learn to make these then you can make this quilt block.

My shortcut blocks are available on my website and on here in my links in my signature.

This is a very visually appealing design. I think it would look amazing greatly enlarged so that just one block would cover the bed (with border added)...in my case, a king. yes that would be great!

"Treasure map" came to mind with the star being the center. Excellent block and I agree a large size for the center of a quilt would be wonderful!

I thought Star Crossed . . . was looking here to see what others had suggested and saw that Shasta thought it first!

Unless someone comes up with something I like better I'm thinking Irish Twist the corners of the star make me think of twist ties and the crossed over green lines also make me think of twists. those are the parts that make you think of tic tac toe

I considered Irish TicTacToe maybe. but rt now I'm leaning toward Irish Twist

Some quilt blocks I've looked at online don't have any connection between the quilt block and the name. I prefer some sort of connection.

Keep on thinking everyone!! I'm sure there is that perfect name out there yet!

I like the idea of twist in the name, but am wondering is the Irish part because it's green? If made in red or scrappy, would it still be "Irish"? I was thinking something like Twisted Jack, or Twisted Star...

I believe UFOs are like scraps, ferns and dust bunnies. Once you get two, they send spores out into the air and more just happen anywhere the spores meet.

Ooh wildyard I really like Twisted Jack. it's interesting and different. The Jack is also something suggested in this thread. I like using something from the thread in the name.

I had the same concerns about the green influencing the name. But it could be used and when someone uses a diff color they can change the name to suit their colors.

So we have Irish Twist or Twisted Jack so far.

Love collaborating with like minds!! LOL

To me it looks like jacks and little balls kids play with, .so my idea is Jacks. It is a nice block.
