Suggestions For Blocks?
I'm looking for suggestions for blocks in a sampler quilt. Our former neighbor has just been diagnosed with a brain tumor and after surgery, she will need several radiation treatments to reduce the part of the mass that they cannot remove. I sent a message to one of her daughters to find our her favorite colors and Bible verse for a comfort quilt, but her daughter had no suggestions, so I thought I might do a lap sized sampler quilt in warm colors (perhaps cream and cranberry?) and pick blocks that might have meaning to her.
So, here's the info I have. She's a homeschooling mother of 11 and a very sweet, woman. She's a Christian and grew up on a farm (wasn't there a block titled, "Farmer's Daughter"?) and is now living on a farm (or a block titled, "Farmer's Wife"?). I was thinking of doing a block for each of her children and then one for her and then I was thinking of doing a quilt with just her interests. Any suggestions for blocks that would go well with this quilt?

I love using these panels in quilts. They also have some nice free patters to use with the panels.

Figure out what size or sizes you want and to www.qilterscache.com You can just read down the list in the size category that fits and see if any names call out to you.
I saw one in the 8 inch category called "next door neighbor". That might fit your plan.

How about a "New York Beauty" block, since she lives in NY; a "schoolhouse" block since she home schools; New York's state flower is a rose, there are many of those to choose from; There is a block here called "comfort" http://civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/2...ort-quilt.html
and one here called "star of hope" http://www.edwardssoftware.com/quilts/blocks.html

I second going to Quilter's Cache and looking for blocks with appropriate names. I had a good quilting friend who moved to Wyoming, and I found a Wyoming block, a Road to California block, a Friendship block, and a Memories block. Made a nice wallhanging...

I'm so torn, now! I love the Biblical blocks, and the quilter's cache website. I did find quite a few blocks, though, so I was thinking I might combine some Biblical blocks with the blocks from quilter's cache. I just have to quickly figure out which ones to use and then get it going. My goal is to get it done as soon as possible so she could have it for her radiation treatments.
