Suggestions for packing quilt rulers when moving
I've been looking for plastic storage containers that would be long enough to pack 24" rulers and such, but can't seem to locate any. I have a couple of old ones...... they are shallow enough to store under a bed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to securely pack up rulers during a move? I'd hate for any of them to break!!
Thanks.

I have an Ikea Alex cabinet in my sewing room. I would pack the rulers in it. That's where I keep the ones that I don't use a lot. I would probably add something like batting to keep them from shifting around. Movers wrap furniture like that in plastic wrap, so the drawers wouldn't be falling open during the move.

paid movers? Ask them to pack along with mirrors, they can slide them in alongside the mirrors in their special boxes just for that-and they will also be extra careful with that box!
no professional movers? I'd still go to a rental company that sells moving boxes and get a couple of these special boxes--you probably have some mirrors and can pack that way.

When I travel with my long (18 in and 24 in.) rulers I put them along the spine of my suitcase. They can't go on the top or the bottom because my suitcases are soft sided but the spine on my large suitcase is great support for the rulers. If I were moving I would do the same. I have a few large square rulers (12 in. and 16 in.) that I would put in a bottom of a drawer.
