Your model has very good reviews on pattern review. One lady just bought her husband one, so now they have two. Enjoy your new 'baby'.

My Dh bought me a Kenmore back in the early 80's after we got married. I made ALOT of baby clothes for my son. Pulled it out the other day, cleaned it up a bit and my son used it to make his girl a pillow. It still runs like a dream and decided to keep it out
CONGRATS on your new one. I'd love to see a picture.

Your hubby knows what is good! I walked into a thrift store just before Christmas because you'll never know what you'll find, and there was an older but well taken care of Kenmore sewing machine. I snatched it up because I know people who love to sew for Project Linus and do not have a machine. A friend uses my extra sewing machine and sews up a storm for Project Linus. The Kenmore sews beautifully and today I'll get a walking foot for it, (it came with the quarter inch foot), extra needles, oil ,etc. and she can continue to sew up a storm for kids! Those machines are workhorses! Congrats on yours!

What do the magnets do? I want to get me a computerized machine also.....these tips are good to know even if they don't affect the machine or not it's good to know.
I know if your cell phone sits next to your computer or you use it close to it your pc can crash.....doesn't happen every time but it can. Isn't the tech world wonderful.....LOL
