Default T-shirt memory quilt for wall hanging

I'm making a t-shirt memory quilt only for a wall hanging. Do you think I need batting? seems like the top and backing would be all I need for that - but what do you think.

It seems to me like the batting would help fill it out if that makes sense but I bet you don't need it.

I think I would use a thin batting, such as Quilter's Dream Request weight, to provide stability for the wall hanging. And a little dimension (assuming you will at least outline quilt some areas).
