i like it both ways, but if forced to choose i'd do it without... just personal preference

No tie, but I would echo another square within your squares......with the big stitches.....that's in now!

I like it without but it's what you like. This is going to sound crazy but I did one similar to this one for a gift and I just happened to find small buttons that were red and white, I sewed those in the middle and she really liked it, matter a fact I was asked to make 2 more. You never want to take your finished product to work to give to the person that you made it for, before you know it you've got requests.

Another good idea.... and you are so right... I have done that before too.... and got really busy making more stuff for people......

I like both of them, but really prefer the first. I do think it could use something more in the middle. Maybe stitch diagonally across the center blocks. How do you do your tea dye?

maybe more stitching in the squares with the ties. I like it better without the ties.
