Is there any reason why I can't just sew the strips together and then cut them?

I think strip piecing would work for that pattern.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

Well, that is what I thought but wanted to get someone else's opinion in case I was missing something obvious. Thank you

I've seen this done in scrappy where it makes sense to cut the pieces but as long as you work in 2 colors I would use strips too.

If you used a bright print instead of a solid for the middle strip, you wouldn't have to quilt a motif onto the rectangle. Just my humble suggestion.

Except for when I'm writing patterns at midnight when I'm virtually asleep (see second post under http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...n-t185286.html and my response several posts later!) I wouldn't ever think of doing this pattern you show any way but speed-piecing/strip piecing/chain piecing/whatever you want to call it. I much prefer to keep my bottom in this chair and sew as long as possible before standing to press and cut!! The instructions as written are just too much work for me, LOL!

I just made this quilt...and I strip pieced it...can't believe anyone would cut all the pieces like the pattern says.

Have made this quilt many times and always strip pieced. Works just great
