I keep being drawn to applique quilts of all sorts-first quilts were pretty standard piecing to get confidence, then discovered applique and now 4 out of 5 quilts are appliqued. I want to do double wedding ring when I get the nerve, and still want to learn to do art quilts and foundation piecing (for some reason, I am afraid to try even though everyone says it is so easy!) I am going to do a cute Sunbonnet Sue sampler next-got the pattern and can't wait to start! The book is "Sunbonnet Sue All through the Year" by Sue Linker-a MUST for "Sue" lovers!!!

I love the traditional patterns which are easy to follow and so tried and true, I like to make my own variation on some as there is so much room for combinations of various traditional blocks sky would be the limit. I am an old biddy I quess that is why the older styles appeal to me more I guess.

What drew me to quilting to start with were the older more traditional quilts but I have come to appreciate all kinds of quilting and I would do more of each if there were more hours in a day. Color choices have grown also. Didn't like oranges and reds but now use them with other colors for a cheerful look. I think there can be a constant evolving with quilting. I love quilts!

I've discovered that I am drawn more to the sharp contrasts now.
Used to be I liked the more muted colors, but now they don't interest me that much.
I did this by "Copying" and "Pasting" the quilts I thought prettiest, went through them to weed out the ones I would never get around to making and found the ones left were dark and light. Strong contrasts are what I want now. Next year, who knows?

Definitely, I love the Bargello quilts and the spiral quilts with strip piecing.

Absolutely. My tastes in fabrics have changed a lot. Used to like muted country colors in calico. When I first saw batiks I thought they were overstated and gaudy. Now batiks are my favorites and I love working with them. I am really getting smitten with Oriental and Asian prints. Never liked metallics before, love a touch of metallic on fabric now.

I still like traditional patterns but I like to try more complex designs like NY Beauty or Mariners Compass. Love to do an old timey pattern updated with new vibrant fabrics. I still like an old fashioned scrappy quilt and I still love old traditional blocks but some of them can be very challenging and those are the ones I like to try.

I have kind of always switched around..I guess I have liked everything...but I have to say about 5 years ago I couldn't get into KAffe Fabrics...now I LOVE Them....so my tastes haev changed...love all the modern big prints and COLORS!

I flip and flop all over the place LOL I find it is usually the colors used in a quilt that draws me to a pattern more than the pattern style itself. Or the way colors are used for shading the blocks a specific way. :D:D:D

I have been quilting for over 25 years, fashions and styles change and my tastes do too! Used to be super traditional, then needed to take a break from quilting when too much other stuff was going on in my life. When I started again- a baby quilt for my first grandchild- it amazed how much things had changed! It has been a lot of fun learning new techniques and working with some many different fabrics - I love the way quilting keeps evolving!
