That is a beautiful cabinet and a wonderful machine! Have you sewn with it yet? How do you like it?

Yes I have sewn with it. It works beautiful. Now I am trying to juggle my room to get everything organized. I wanted to sell my Quantum XL as it had some quirks. I had the guy service it and it works better than ever. I can't part with it. Now I am keping my D 1 for embroidery (which I seldom do).

Your suggestions of using Feed-Wax was terrific. Now I am using the rest on my kitchen cabinet.

Buy!! I have one of these but not in a stunning cabinet like that. In Australia you would pay heaps more than he is asking just for the cabinet alone - like maybe $600 - you are so lucky to come across this. I think it is beautiful and that machine is a wonderful workhorse and will be going in another fifty years, unlike a lot of embroidery and computer machines today. :)

It's just sitting there, waiting... and I am still trying to get organized. If I just had it in me to forget about everything and just sew.

I went through Brisbane on my way to the Great Barrier Reef in August 1988.
My grand daughter and great grandson live in Melbourne.

Hi Gilla, lovely to hear you have an Aussie connection. I actually got my my machine like that out today and I have to say she is lovely to sew on, see - you inspired me! Mine is in a much smaller cabinet, I collect sewing machines and I have never seen one in a cabinet like that here. It is a beautiful piece of furniture. I am very jealous of you!! You would find Brisbane very different nowadays, many more people, though the flavour is still there. My husband comes from Melbourne and I think it is a beautiful city. I do hope you get the machine. :)

Hi Gilla - the cabinet has come up beautifully. When I got mine it only had about five embroidery discs with it, I am curious to know how many you got with yours please. I have never really found out how many discs were made for this machine. Can you help? - Wings

Are we talking about the Singer 401? It has five black disks that sorta do embroidery stitches. I haven't used them on this machine yet. You have to maneuver the knobs in the front and I will have to look into the manual to refresh my memory. (It even came with a very clean manual) I saw a machine like it on eBay that claimed to have 10 disks. I don't know how accurate that is.

I am still trying to get organized. But I will soon.

I will start having to label my machines soon to tell them apart.
