Bernina has launched their new limited edition (only 4,000 made) 830 and were offering 3 hour test drives to make an embroidered pillow. What an AMAZING machine. I currently have a 12 yr old 150 QE that I love and have made many a complex quilt on. The biggest selling point to me was the wide throat, as it is a struggle to wrestle the big quilts through my standard throat. The class was a lot of fun, so if you have a chance, I highly recommend taking it for a spin. No, I won't be buying on this year. Maybe when my car is paid off!

They are crazy expensive, $10K. For that price I kept my 150QE and bought a longarm! Would much rather LA quilt than embroider.

I have an 830. As for newly launching the LE? It's been available and for sale for a long time. I would think they're about sold out of them by now. LOL. The LE has had to have been on the market for at least a year?

Please tell me what makes (what amounts to...) a DSM worth $10,000?? I don't care HOW fancy it embroiders...unless, of course, it also "happens" to make Persian rugs or something...I have a Bernina, but I sure wouldn't pay that for one of the new ones. I too, bought a LA instead!

If you don't know, then maybe you should try one before making negative comments? I feel I deserved it and could afford it. Simple as that!

Just my opinion, but I would never buy a used one from a private seller. If you could get some kind of warrantee from a dealer...maybe. But, used machine warranties don't transfer and you would not be happy with any kind of repair bill, I can promise you. I love my machine, but it had 3 different warranty repairs on it. If it had been used, I would have been up a creek.

I agree with Candace. I said I would not pay the high price, but they had a sale and with I wanted the 830 so I bought one. I love it. I like to embroider and the Jumbo hoop size was one of the things I wanted. I have not tried to quilt an actual quilt on it as of yet. Maybe eventually.
