Besides the zoom to 400% and the + to 150% and - to 100% on the right task bar, there is another method if one really wants to see a quilt pattern...
If you have Windows 7 or Vista version, there is a Snip It tool. You click on the "snip it" then drag the cross bar around the image, it copies to the "clipboard" and then you can paste to Word or some other software package screen. After that you can drag the handles as large as you wish. Then save the doc. I do this often when I see one of these "dream quilts" I would like to make - like that daisy quilt that keeps popping up on the recent posts.

Mine didn't work either just holding down the control button, but when someone else said to hold CTRL then hit the + or - key to enlarge, reduce - it worked and it's great! Woohoo!
