Yes.That is what the patternsays,but I am going to do an 81/2 inch the next time.That would be alot easier. There are 42 blocks and I about went stir crazy trying to keep them at 81/4 inches.I am a new quilter and that was the worst part!

Usually, the first time I try to follow the directions. The next time (if I do it again) I usually will have figured out some adaptations that work better for me.
