I just thought I'd see what everyone's preference is for thread when you hand sew your binding to the back of your quilt. I've always used cotton same as in the rest of the quilt but wondered if you use anything else.

Also, do you use any particular stitch? I don't like my stitches to show so I use a blind stitch (not sure that's the right name but you probably know what I mean).

i use what ever thread i pieced with, or goes with the binding/quilt...as long as it doesn't break when i pull on it i don't worry too much about it (i always have on hand cotton, poly, wool and silk threads so what ever works for what i'm doing is what i use.
there is a tutorial that shows the ladder stitch for sewing on binding. i use an invisible stitch.

I use whatever I have that is a good match as far as color. Usually cotton or poly/cotton

If I don't have the exact color in cotton, can I use my thread I use in my embroidery machine (poly or rayon)? I was afraid of it not being durable long term. What I would be using it for is a wall hanging for my grandson so it won't be used and washed a lot.

I use heavy quilting thread in a single strand with hidden stitches.
