Well, I re-read the instruction manual and discovered I was indeed lowering the presser foot a tad too soon. I then embroidered for several hours and had no thread breaks!! Yippeeee!!!!

I know how you feel!! My PE 770 will only sew with 90 wt. bobbin thread which is darned expensive. I have sent it back to the dealer twice for thread breakage. I ordered it online and must pay for shipping out of state. Twice it has come back and worked for a while before the problem starts again. Now the automatic threader came apart into many pieces. Disgusted, I bought a Brother SE 400 and just love it! It only does 4 x 4 but I have found I actually prefer that size rather than the 5x7. I recently found a Brother dealer an hour away from me and they said they will service my PE 770. I have soured on this machine though and I am in no hurry!!

A while back I was trying to use my embroidery machine (Janome) that I've been using for several years. The thread kept breaking and even the needle broke once. I knew it was threaded right. I took the bobbin out, cleaned it, oiled it, rethreaded it, and the thread still broke. After two days of fighting with it, I looked at the instruction manual one more time and guess what? It was NOT threaded right after all. I was forgetting the last little thing right near the needle. My sewing machine (Brother) does not have that last one so I just didn't see it.
