Leah Day is a fabulous free motion quilter and she uses Isacord polyester thread for FMG. She uses cotton thread for piecing.

I prefer cotton, the better cottons. I like connecting threads thread, I don't find it very linty, though others have said it is. The only thread I have noticed alot of lint with is Valdani, and it is one of the most expensive threads out there! My machine sews perfect with any thread I put in it so that is not a problem.

I've always used poly for clothes and still have a lot to use up. I've been using cotton since joining QB and I love it (cotton and QB). I won't throw out my poly but as I replace it I buy cotton - but only good non-linty brands. I love Aurifil for piecing and bobbin and King Tut by Superior for FMQ top thread.

If you order Aurifil directly from Italy you save over 1/2 of what it costs to buy from shops including the shipping cost. I won't buy it at the price the dealers are selling it for. Also Aurifil is a brand name only. From what I have researched, the thread is Genziana Cotton Mako 50wt from Cucirini Tre Stelle. I have several 6000 yard spools of it bought online from Italy as well as the Aurifil name. A good online Italian thread shop is: http://www.tristan.bc.ca/index.html
