Question thread size question

Hi everyone.
What is the best weight thread to use for machine piecing and quilting? And for the bobbin?
Thanks much

I like 50 or 60 wt poly for all of the above. This wt in bobbin and top for pieceing takes very little room so the seams fold over easier when pressing. Quilting is both decorative and functional. For strictly functional 50/60 or monofiliment all work. If the quilting is dense, 50/60 gives the least build up. For decorative 30-12 and bobbin work provides the most visibility in art quilts and primitive look.

I like Aurifil 50wt 2-ply the best for piecing and quilting on my DSM. For my midarm on a frame, Aurifil 50wt 2-ply shreds, but Aurifil 3-ply works for quilting.

For piecing I use Aurifil 50 wt 2 ply. Its strong, low lint and my blocks turn out accurate. Its amazing what one less ply of thread will do to make your blocks come out to the correct size. I use the same for my bobbin

I use the thinnest thread I can find for the bobbin. Either a 70wt or 80 wt. Aurifil has a good 80 wt. on large cones. Connecting Threads 70wt is good too. There are many brands of thin thread for bobbins. Poly is the most used because it's strong for thin thread. For the top I use 50 wt 2 ply or 60 wt. The right size needle is very important. 90/14 needle is too big for 50wt 2 ply but fine for 50wt 3 ply. You can't just to buy a spool of thread anymore. They are all different!
