I prefer thin thread for top and bobbin. I use Superior, Aurifil, Connecting Threads poly on the cone (its's 70 wt), Wonderfil, Sulky, Guttermann, Mettler, Presencia, Robison-Anton, Coats&Clark bobbin thread and any other name brand thread that catches my fancy at the time. I have a Bernina, Janome, Singer and Brother machines and non are finicky about thread. I use Glide for machine quilting and fmq.

Superior has a try me special right now - $6.00 for 1000 yard small cones vs. $5.95 for 550 yards spools. i buy the large cones - even more economical.

I just use Coats and Clarks and Connecting Threads. No problems at all.
I have a Viking Sapphire machine and several cheap Brothers.

It depends on the machine I'm using. I like Aurifil 50 wt or Gutterman 50 wt. Gutterman tends to leave the bobbin case with a lot of lint.

I love Superior King Tut as there is a great range of colours. I also sometimes use YLI as this is what my LQS stocks. I've also used Sulky 30wt when I've needed high definition - it hardly ever breaks .
Aurifil comes in several weights.
