I have one of those white poly pipe, free standing frames and it is really cool. Doesn't take up to much space and comes apart to store it. Please post a pic' of your wonderful find. I would love to see it.

I don't use a hoop at all. Just sandwich layers together with pins or glue and quilt in my lap. Start in the middle so if there are any surprises you can work them out to the edge, though I never had to do that.

I also have the Q-Snap PVC floor frame. I found it on craigslist new in the box for $40! SCORE!! I purchased the tilt kit online and it is quite comfortable to work on for long periods of time. When I'm done, it just comes apart and stores back in the original box on top of my Billy Bookcases (Ikea). Life is good!

Sounds beautiful - I love elephants. When I hand quilted my very first quilt, and the last one I hand quilted; I set the quilt up on my old DR table, which was huge, and could accommodate the quilt weight beautifully. I used just a 14" or 16" quilting hoop. I tried quilting with a hoop that had a base, to use on a table, and then bought a quilting hoop stand and never used either one. I just couldn't make them work for me. If I'm going to hand quilt a small project, I thread baste it and quilt without a hoop, which seems easier to me for some strange reason. Can't wait to see your tablecloth finished, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

Laughing at myself now! Too excited about the beautiful animals. It would have looked terrible! I need some sort of a design for that as its a large open space.

Thanks for all the replies. Decided to get a wooden floor hoop that is adjustable. Lucky for me, my birthday is coming up soon and DH will be getting it for me!

I know that this will be a long term project for me with other quilting and sewing at the same time.

I do the same. I found I hit myself with the hoop or if stationary it hurt the back to bend over. Could you borrow from a friend and try. But start cheap and work up.
