I had many yards of co-ordinating Waverly fabric from Calico Corners given to me years ago. It was a highly polished cotton and I made the most beautiful pinwheel quilt with matching shams and box-pleated bedskirt for my daughter. Polished cotton was easy to work on!

Default thrift store find --polished cotton

My only experience with polished cotton was that after being washed it lost it's sheen. But the fabric was still bright and soft. Worked well.

I used polished cotton for a quilt as you go backing which made it easier to work with than softer cotton. Easier to fold over.

When I was in elementary school (many many years ago) we had a teacher who taught us to draw pictures on Polished cotton material than place waxed paper on the design and then pressed it with a hot iron. She said it would stay in place forever because of the material we used. I don't have it any more due to my moving every year or two.

They do put fabric protecters on cotton fabric. I have bought that personally. I would make a Sunday best quilt out of it.

I bought some pretty polished cotton several years ago, wanted to make a blouse, shirt type, with it. Washed it, tossed it in the dryer, came out looking like normal cotton prints we buy. Made my blouse & still wear it! Just wash it & dry it in pieces, as you want to use it, & it should work out fine...

i bought a 100% cotton fabric that was teflon coated and i used it in making blocks for a boom swap. i noticed that the seams were harder for the needle to penetrate, which meant that actual quilting was going to be difficult where seams overlapped. i stopped using it for that reason. you may want to play around with it and see if it presents similar problems. it is a beautiful fabric, but mine just wasn't right for quilting. the finish did not wash off.
