Back in the day, before totes were popular, I was known as the Bag Lady, because I made so many bags. I got heavy fabric close out, drapery, and upholstery, remnants to use. Some of the bags were softer, with muslin weight lining, some were heavy duty for the guys to throw tools into. I had big nylon bags perfect for the White Sales to carry 4 king size pillows in. Everyone in my department at Walter Reed had tote bags, and probably several other departments. It was a great source of pocket money for me. That was nearly 40 years ago. I haven't made any since then. I coach the kids, but for me - I don't even carry a purse, and retailers give away totes like they grow on trees.

I love making bags and totes. What started me on the quiltng road was a small quilted bag. I fell in love with quilting with making that bag. Since then I've made at least 50 bags. I too, am known as the bag lady of our quild. I just finished making a huge tote bag for overnight stays. Put in probably 16 hours in making it.

I have bought. Pattern but no mTerial to make one yet. Would have loved to make one for my vacation but no time in my life and no money for fabric. Sigh.

I've made a few. Working on some hobo bags right now. I'm hoping to find a copy of the bow tuck bag next time I get close to a fabric store. I think it is really cute.
