You can find many of my tutorials on how to make mini blocks with my piecencut methods. You can search Rhonda or Rhonda Minis and come up with several.
This is my favorite block. -- Boston Blocks and I make these and then use them as individual blocks. I am a miniaturist and only do minis. I don't do to scale minis but just make them whatever size i want them to be. I usually cut out the blocks at 1 1/2" with a template.

Tips: Be as accurate as you can. It saves a lot of hassle later on. Then measure each time you add anything together to make sure they are the rt size. if you measure as you go then you should end up with a block that is the right size. Measuring at each step is an easier way to catch mistakes as they are made and when they are easier to fix.
